Marketing
How does web advertising
differ from traditional newspaper, radio, and television advertising?
First, it is far less expensive. But far outweighing that is its interactivity
and immediacy. Your web site can allow customers to request information,
even place orders directly. In addition you can automatically compile
customer information for market analysis or the creation of mailing lists.
But how does a web
surfer find your site? First, the source code for your site contains "meta
tags." These describe the site, who authored it, and what it is about.
One of the meta tags contains "key words and phrases" which are like entries
in the index of a book. Search engines (the software web surfers use to
find information) send out "robots" which read meta tags in order to catalog
sites by subject. Thus, your choice of keywords and key phrases is crucial
to having your customers find you.
If you want to make
sure the search engines know about your site, however, the best way is
to officially register the site with them. As part of our service, we
will register your site with the top search engines for a one-time charge
of $100. Updates are $25 and are recommended every 3-6 months.
A further way to
attract visitors to your site is through banner ads. These are little
ads containing a link to your site which you pay other sites to display.
You pay the other sites every time a surfer links to your site. In order
to be effective, the other sites should be related in subject matter or
product to your site. For example, if you were selling Maine Coon cats,
you might wish to display a banner ad for your site on a site which described
cats in general. We can both create banner ads and negotiate placement
of them on other sites of your choice.
